I'm on my way back....

So I vowed the other night to run "come hell or high water", and I did.  It wasn't necessarily pleasant or easy, but I pushed out 4 miles and had to work much harder than I should have for that pace.  It could've been that I was tired, the excess weight, residual weakness from Miami, or just one of those days.  Whatever it was, it doesn't matter.  I didn't need to hit a certain pace or cover a certain distance, I just had to get out there and do it ( well...inside and do it...it was a treatmill run. I like going to the Y on Tuesday )  The fact that I did it made the night a raging sucess and did much to improve my mood.  The next night I went out and ran a 5k fun run and had a good time, if not a good time ( former "time" =  experience, latter "time" = chronological ).  I'm pretty sure I'm not fully recovered from my marathon, and that's OK.  The important thing is a set some short term goals and carried them out.  That does wonders for the psyche.  I had a good time..more psyche enhancement. I also feel like I'm running again.  Also a good thing.  Before I know it my weight will start dropping, women will be swooning, and my kids will be getting recruiting letters from Harvard.  ( shhh...don't burst my bubble )  I'm not always a fan of reality and sometimes avoid it at all costs, for as long as I can.  The important thing is that I'm running again and things are improving.  I've got some work to do in other areas that will also help, but once I get some momentum going, I'll be better able to address those things as well.  I'm still hoping to start my training plan next week and expect there to be an adjustment period going from 12 miles per week to 30, but as long as I go slow enough, I'll be fine.  I may even get rebellious and do the 5k next Wednesday just for the heck of it, whether it fits into my training plan or not.  It never fails...the best thing to do when you're feeling blue is....

wait for it....

...Just Don't Stop Running.....

enjoy your weekend !!
