This feels good.......

Last night was the first run on my new training plan.  It was the second day of the plan, but the first day was "Rest ( or cross train )".  Since my marathon the longest I have run is 5 miles so I was a little intimidated by having to run 8 miles with some speedwork in the middle of it.  It went great !!  It was the first time since about the midpoint of the race in Miami, that I felt strong.  My leg strength is ocming back, and I haven't lost as much endurance as I feared.  I was afraid with the 3 week taper before the race, and 2 weeks after the race to recover, I'd be starting all over again.  It wasn't bad at all.  Part of the reason for that is I slowed it down ...A LOT !!  That's one of the things I'm doing differently this time around.  I now acknowledge the need to slow down much of my training.  It's still going to be very difficult for me to actually implement that knowledge, but like they say, admitting you have a problem is the first step, right ?    So I've managed to get in 3 runs in 4 days, feel like I'm getting my legs back, and have been very busy at work.  There's always more to work on, but at least those things are going well.  I've run very little the last few weeks and this week I'm supposed to run 35 miles, so that should be a bit of a challenge, but if I didn't like challenges, I shouldn't be aiming at a marathon, now should I ???  I think my next post will be what I'm doing differently for marathon 2,  what results I expect to be different, and why.  I'm hoping for a 20 - 30 minute PR, but I know we're a long way from making predictions like that.  In the mean time.....

Just don't stop running....
